Our Story

We're glad you found us. We are Hickory Wicks. We have one goal, to bring our love for a great smelling home to the rest of the world. A luxury candle at an affordable price. Our scents are inspired by natural earth scents.  

We use a natural 100% soy coconut blend of wax that is non toxic and pet safe. We found that this is the best formula that gives a slow burn with a great scent throw that will fill a room. Our wicks give a clean burn and are 100% lead-free cotton. In an effort to be an eco-friendly company we strive to use all sustainable materials and as little plastic as possible.

Each of our candles are hand poured and labeled by us, with meticulous attention to detail. To bring any one that puts our candle on their mantel, bathroom or coffee table, the best sensory experience we possibly can. 

We like to think of our wares as full sensory experiences—from the packaging to the warm candlelight and delicate aromas that fill a room. So, go ahead, light one up.

Meet the Founders 

Isabel 

Isabel spent the very early part of her life growing up in Detroit, MI before relocating with her family to North Carolina. She has always been a very independent woman with dreams of one day owning her own company. 

At 18 she became a manager at a well known restaurant, but one day realized that just being a manager wasn't enough for her. One day she left that restaurant and decided to do something she had never done and get into the car business to sell cars. It was there she met her now husband and co-founder Trenton. Seven months after meeting they were engaged and six months after that they were married. 

They now live in Hickory, NC together, with their five children. After getting a starter candle kit as a gift from her mother. Isabel started experimenting with making candles as a hobby. From there she decided that she had a product that she wanted to share with the world. 

Trenton 

Trenton grew up in Brooklyn, NY with a very big and close nit family. He moved to Lincolnton, NC with his mom after losing his father at the age of twelve after losing his father to a battle with cancer. After attending high school and one year at Montreat College. After that year in college he decided it wasn't from him and moved back to Brooklyn. 

While living in Brooklyn he Djed at night and worked a construction job in the day. Realizing that living back in New York wasn’t taking him in the direction he wanted to go in, he moved back to North Carolina. After trying his hand at real estate and the car business, he knew being an entrepreneur was the right thing for him. Trenton has a keen eye for design and style, and along with Isabel he pours into candle making.
